THE PROGRAM
With support from the NFHS Foundation, The GRL Initiative and the Vermont Principals' Association are partnering with a cohort of Vermont middle and high schools over the 2026–2027 academic year.
-
Mini-grants help schools replace white shorts and skirts with compliant, non-white alternatives. Fully NFHS-aligned. Phased over multiple budget cycles so no school is forced into a sudden cost.
-
Pads, tampons, and period underwear stocked in girls' locker rooms, athletic training rooms, and team travel kits — at every cohort school, every season.
-
Licensed OB-GYNs, sports medicine physicians, and adolescent health specialists deliver four sessions per school covering the menstrual cycle and athletic performance, products and symptom management, nutrition and iron status, and when to seek care.
Built by listening. Designed to scale.
Every part of this program is designed so other state athletic associations can adopt it in Year 2. We track participation against each school's own historical baseline — classified simply as Increase, Stable, or Decrease — and we measure athlete-reported anxiety, missed practices, and product utilization. At the end of Year 1, we publish the full Replication Playbook free of charge, including the NFHS-alignment memo, MOU templates, the curriculum, the Period-Sport Anxiety Scale, and the evaluation instruments.
